The Fermi contact hyperfine contribution to the Knight shift of positive muons, implanted at the interstitial 3d sites in CeB6, is found to exhibit the same temperature dependence below T(Q) in phase II as the quadrupolar order parameter determined from resonant and nonresonant x-ray scattering. Furthermore, the contact coupling parameter is shown to be anisotropic and field dependent. These unanticipated features are interpreted to arise from the RKKY induced conduction electron spin polarization, which depends on the orientation and expectation value of the ordered 4f quadrupole moments.

Methods: Retrospective analysis of clinical, echocardiographic and hemodynamic data as related to survival or listing for transplantation of medically treated transplant candidates.
Patients: 160 patients considered 'too well' for cardiac transplantation and 133 patients immediately listed for transplantation.
During the last 3 years, a modified technique of the continent urinary diversion, known as the "Indiana pouch" has been performed in 18 patients as part of pelvic exenteration. The narrowing of the ileum and/or the site of Bauchin valve was excluded from the procedure. In order to achieve anti reflux effect, ureters were implanted to the urinary reservoir by the "split cuff nipple" technique instead of tunnelling ureters.

To gain experience in animal experiments prior to introduction in human practice is fundamental in our opinion. Apart from achieving practice in operative technique, analysing and possible avoiding unnecessary complications might be the ethical positive consequences of this practice. On the other hand, functional tests prior to human use will be possible, and as it has been demonstrated in our present study, modifications of technique might be the result of animal experiments.
