Rosuvastatin (ROS), a statin drug with promising anticancer properties has a low bioavailability of approximately 20% due to lipophilicity and first-pass metabolism. This study aimed to enhance ROS anticancer efficacy through loading into flexible chitosomes. The chitosomes were prepared starting from negatively charged liposomes through electrostatic interactions with chitosan.

Oleuropein (OLP) is a naturally occurring phenolic compound in olive plant with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potential and can possibly be used in treating pancreatic injuries. This investigation aimed to follow the molecular mechanism behind the potential therapeutic effect of OLP against pancreatic injury persuaded by ischemia-reperfusion (I/R). Pancreatic I/R injury was induced by splenic artery occlusion for 60 min followed by reperfusion.

Article Synopsis
  • * This study focuses on improving curcumin's effectiveness by using gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) that enhance its properties, revealing an optimal formulation with small particle size, high drug entrapment efficiency, and better skin absorption.
  • * The AuNPs-loaded curcumin demonstrated significantly better wound healing in a diabetic rat model compared to the free drug, with benefits like reduced oxidative stress, increased collagen, and improved antibacterial activity.

Article Synopsis
  • Telogen effluvium (TE) is the most common type of hair loss, and Vitamin D may play a key role due to its effects on the immune system and inflammation.
  • A study involving 40 women with TE showed significantly lower Vitamin D levels compared to healthy controls, but after 3 months of oral Vitamin D treatment, their levels improved considerably.
  • The findings suggest that oral Vitamin D could be beneficial for TE, but more extensive research is needed to determine the appropriate dosages and treatment duration.

Total extract of () expressed potent bronchodilator effect in isolated Guinea pigs' tracheal muscles. Fractionation of total extract ( using liquid-liquid technique followed by bronchodilator testing indicated that the activity was trapped to the chloroform (CHCl) soluble fraction. Phytochemical study of the CHCl fraction guided by bronchodilator activity led to the isolation of 7 active flavones of which compounds (Tephroapollin G), (Acetyltephroapollin C), (4''-Dehydroxytephroapollin E), and (Tephroapollin F) were new.
