TIPS: A Framework for Text Summarising with Illustrative Pictures.

We propose an algorithm to generate graphical summarising of longer text passages using a set of illustrative pictures (TIPS). TIPS is an algorithm using a voting process that uses results of individual "weak" algorithms. The proposed method includes a summarising algorithm that generates a digest of the input document.

Radial Basis Functions Intended to Determine the Upper Bound of Absolute Dynamic Error at the Output of Voltage-Mode Accelerometers.

In this paper, we propose using the radial basis functions () to determine the upper bound of absolute dynamic error () at the output of a voltage-mode accelerometer. Such functions can be obtained as a result of approximating the error values determined for the assumed-in-advance parameter variability associated with the mathematical model of an accelerometer. This approximation was carried out using the radial basis function neural network () procedure for a given number of the radial neurons.

2-Chlorodeoxyadenosine therapy in advanced chronic lymphocytic leukaemia.

The therapeutic potential of 2-chlorodeoxyadenosine (CdA) in patients with advanced chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) remains controversial with response rates in clinical trials ranging from 44 to 67%. This report describes our experience with CdA in 22 CLL patients having already undergone previous treatment. CdA was given by continuous intravenous infusion at a dose of 4 mg/m2/day for 7 days (4 patients) or as 2-h intravenous infusions at a dose of 5.

High-dose cytosine arabinoside intensification for acute nonlymphocytic leukemia in patients over 56 years of age.

One hundred and nine consecutive patients with de novo acute nonlymphocytic leukemia aged over 56 years were admitted with the intention of administering high-dose cytosine arabinoside (HD Ara-C) intensification. After remission induction, the patients were consolidated with a course of daunorubicin (30 mg/m2/day, days 1-3) and Ara-C (100 mg/m2/day, days 1-7), followed by the intensification (Ara-C, 2 g/m2/12 h, days 1-4). The planned induction course was not started in 13 patients because of cardiac failure or unsatisfactory general status.
