Background: Endometriosis is one of the most common chronic gynecological diseases.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to examine the effects of curcumin and/or deferoxamine on cell proliferation in a rat model of endometriosis.

Material And Methods: Thirty female 12-week-old albino Wistar rats, weighing 200-250 g, were used in this study.

Effects of arsenate and arsenite on germination and some physiological attributes of barley Hordeum vulgare L.

Arsenic (As) is toxic to plants and animals. We tested the effects of arsenite and arsenate (0-16 mg/L) on seed germination, and on relative root and shoot length, α-amylase activity, reducing sugars and soluble total protein contents, and malondialdehyde content in barley seedlings. We also measured As accumulation in barley stems and roots.

Influence of N-acetylcysteine on renal toxicity of cadmium in rats.

The aim of this study was to investigate the ability of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) to prevent cadmium (Cd)-induced renal damage and whether NAC would reverse cadmium damage to the kidney. Fifty adult male rats were divided into five experimental groups: group 1 received tap water for 3 months and 7 days, group 2 received cadmium chloride (CdCl(2)) for 3 months, group 3 (NAC cotreatment group) received CdCl(2) and 0.5% NAC in tap water for 3 months, group 4 received CdCl(2) in tap water for 3 months and 3 months later received only tap water for 7 days, and group 5 (NAC posttreatment group) received CdCl(2) in tap water for 3 months and 3 months later received 2% NAC in tap water for 7 days.

[HELLP syndrome and ruptured subcapsular hepatic haematoma. Case report and therapeutic options].

We report a case of spontaneous hepatic rupture secondary to HELLP syndrome. A favourable evolution was observed after massive transfusion and surgical management limited to hepatic packing. Subcapsular hepatic haematoma is a rare complication of preeclampsia occurring mainly in the context of HELLP syndrome.
