State of Knowledge on the Acquisition, Diversity, Interspecies Attribution and Spread of Antimicrobial Resistance between Humans, Animals and the Environment: A Systematic Review.

Resistance to antibiotics is considered one of the most urgent global public health concerns. It has considerable impacts on health and the economy, being responsible for the failure to treat infectious diseases, higher morbidity and mortality rates, and rising health costs. In spite of the joint research efforts between different humans, animals and the environment, the key directions and dynamics of the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) still remain unclear.

The influence of the choice of preemptive analgesia on long-term postsurgical pain after tibial plateau leveling osteotomy in dogs.

Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP) after tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) in dogs and to determine the influence of preemptive locoregional analgesia on CPSP.

Study Design: Retrospective study.

Animals: One hundred twenty client-owned dogs.

Q fever outbreak in the terraced vineyards of Lavaux, Switzerland.

Coxiella burnetii infection (Q fever) is a widespread zoonosis with low endemicity in Switzerland, therefore no mandatory public report was required. A cluster of initially ten human cases of acute Q fever infections characterized by prolonged fever, asthenia and mild hepatitis occurred in 2012 in the terraced vineyard of Lavaux. Epidemiological investigations based on patients' interviews and veterinary investigations included environmental sampling as well as Coxiella-specific serological assay and molecular examinations (real-time PCR in vaginal secretions) of suspected sheep.
