One Year Outcomes and Stability of a Novel Scleral Anchored Intraocular Lens.

Purpose: To assess one year results and stability of the implantation of a scleral anchored intraocular lens (IOL).

Design: Interventional prospective case series.

Methods: Sixty eyes of 60 patients affected by either aphakia or IOL dislocation were included in this study.

Purpose: The authors describe the case of a 58-year-old female patient that came to their observation for recurrent episode of transient blurred vision due to an idiopathic monolateral vitreal cyst localised in the posterior vitreous in the left eye.

Methods: Patient evaluation included: best corrected visual acuity, slit-lamp examination, vitreo-retinal biomicroscopy, ultrasound examination, ultrabiomicroscopy, fluorescein angiography.

Conclusions: The authors review the literature including the most recent reports regarding this rare condition.

The present study investigates the blood pressure (BP) 24 h pattern in 25 subjects who were found to show some incipient signs of hypertensive retinopathy, although they were diagnosed as normotensive by means of casual sphygmomanometry. BP was controlled by means of non invasive ambulatory monitoring. A comparable number of normotensive subjects without fundoscopic signs of hypertensive retinopathy was investigated as a control group.
