Background: Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney disease and contributes to 38% of kidney failure requiring dialysis. A gap in detection and management of type 2 diabetes (T2D) in chronic kidney disease (CKD) exists in primary care. Community pharmacists are positioned to support those not able to access kidney care through traditional pathways.

Understanding the determinants and outcomes of education in pulmonary rehabilitation: moving towards person-centered care.

Topic Importance: Education and psychosocial support are essential components of pulmonary rehabilitation (PR). However, the delivery of education often follows a one-size-fits-all approach, with individual factors that influence learning rarely considered. Moreover, education-related outcomes are frequently overlooked in PR assessments, and inconsistent use of these outcomes has limited our understanding of the impact of education on people with chronic respiratory diseases.

Situational Analysis of the Medication Practices in Brazilian Hospitals: A Multicenter Study.

Objective: To carry out a situational analysis of the medication practices in Brazilian hospitals through the Medication Safety Self-Assessment for Hospitals and the factors associated with better performance in the evaluation.

Methods: This is a multicenter cross-sectional study in which the results of the application of the Medication Safety Self-Assessment for Hospitals, between 2015 and 2020, in 30 Brazilian hospitals were described. In addition, whether the institutional profile was associated with higher self-assessment scores (better performance in the evaluation) was also evaluated.

Trends in initial pharmacological COPD treatment in primary care (2010-2021): a population-based study using the PHARMO Data Network.

Background: Pharmacological treatment is a cornerstone of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) management, with general practitioners providing the most care. However, the lack of data on prescribing trends in initial pharmacotherapy in primary care hinders the understanding of how scientific and technical developments impact patient care and may also perpetuate suboptimal practices. Hence, this study aims to analyze trends in the initial pharmacological treatment of newly diagnosed COPD patients in Dutch primary care from 2010 to 2021.
