The prototypical metal-insulator transition in VO at 340 K is from a high-temperature rutile phase to a low-temperature monoclinic phase. The lower symmetry of the monoclinic structure removes the degeneracy of the two equivalent directions of the tetragonal structure, giving rise to twin domains. Since formation of domain walls require energy most needle-like monoclinic single crystal are single-domain.

For Loewald the subject moves from past to present, in a therapeutic fashion, through the intervention of the analyst, a contemporary object. This article presents a revisionary reading of Freud's Beyond the Pleasure Principle. Recognizing the power of Freud's meditation on a universal "death-drive" in living organisms, it argues that Freud makes a greater contribution by strengthening the compulsion to repeat to a form of figurative death. We recall that after shattering the presupposition of a universal pleasure principle, Freud demonstrates an equally strong pain-principle.

Materials And Methods: A standard flexible gastroscope is inserted into the ileal conduit. Guide wires are passed into the ureters under direct vision.
The crystal structure of benzoylacetone (1-phenyl-1,3-butanedione, C(10)H(10)O(2); P2(1)/c, Z = 4) has been determined at 300, 160 (both Mo Kalpha X-ray diffraction, XRD), 20 (lambda = 1.012 Å neutron diffraction, ND) and 8 K (Ag Kalpha XRD), to which should be added earlier structure determinations at 300 (Mo Kalpha XRD and ND, lambda = 0.983 Å) and 143 K (Mo Kalpha XRD).
