The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of hormetic nutrition for enhancing stress resilience and overall human health have received much attention. Recently, the gut-brain axis has attracted prominent interest for preventing and therapeutically impacting neuropathologies and gastrointestinal diseases. Polyphenols and polyphenol-combined nanoparticles in synergy with probiotics have shown to improve gut bioavailability and blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability, thus inhibiting the oxidative stress, metabolic dysfunction and inflammation linked to gut dysbiosis and ultimately the onset and progression of central nervous system (CNS) disorders.

A typical scenario is that of targeted drug delivery systems, which makes use of biological nanomachines close to a biological target, able to release molecules in the diseased area. In this paper, we propose a simple but reliable receiver model for diffusion-based molecular communication systems tackling the time needed for analyzing such a system.

A recent and extensive research activity highlighted the process behind the attack and spread of COVID-19 in the human body. What emerged is that the SARS-CoV-2 virus makes use of both the ACE2 receptor, expressed by pneumocytes in the ephitelial alveolar lining, and by the endothelium to spread the disease and to replicate itself. Since the endothelium is an extended tissue lying in the circulatory system, this may lead to a large state of diffuse endothelial inflammation with serious clinical consequences.

When a deployment mode is used, the FaaS platform gives users the perception of constantly available resources. Conversely, when a mode is used, containers running the application's modules are automatically destroyed when the application has been executed.

The hyperviscosity syndrome consists of an excessive viscosity of the blood. It has to be timely detected, since it significantly increases the risk of many cardiovascular diseases. It can manifest essentially in two different ways, depending on the capability of the cardiocirculatory system to compensate the increased resistance experienced by the blood in vessels.
