Three information systems are described, whose data are simultaneously used for quality management and others tasks. They show, that the completeness of documented diagnoses is dependent of their appraisal of the physicians. The support of coding by information technology brings an essential improvement.

[OPS-301/ICPM: experiences and problems].

For over 2 years, the classification of procedures OPS-301 has been uniformly used in all German hospitals. The ICPM in German extension has 5-6 digits and is totally compatible with the OPS-301 restricted to operations. This ICPM is qualified for scientific documentation beyond efficiency control.

[Quality assurance of GSG data, problems and possible solutions].

Acquisition and controlling of data by our developed knowledge based system extensively substitute human manual controlling of basic data. It is absolutely necessary because it is the only way to prevent expected high error rates and accomplish the lots of data. You have to do it before data transferring to health insurance.

[Labor induction with prostaglandin in post-cesarean section status].

60 pregnant women with previous cesarean section and induction of labour with prostaglandins (PGE2) in the following pregnancy were compared to a collective of 1412 patients with PGE2 induction without any previous uterine surgery, and to a collective of 82 patients with previous cesarean section, but an uncomplicated course of pregnancy and therefore no indication for an induction of labour. Uterine hyperstimulation was more frequent in both collectives with previous cesarean section than in the collective without that risk. In the case of previous cesarean section induction of labour with prostaglandins did not lead to an increased number of uterine ruptures compared to cases with a previous cesarean section.
