Furan/maleimide dynamic covalent chemistry has been extensively used to fabricate re-workable and self-healing thermosets. Understanding the relationship between crosslinker structure, network dynamics, and material final properties, however, remains a challenge. This study introduces self-healing and shape-memory thermosets derived from furan-functionalized polyketones (PKFU) crosslinked with aromatic bis-maleimides, i.

In situ assessment of metal bioavailability is crucial for evaluating the degree of contamination in aquatic systems. This study evaluated the bioavailability of Al, Fe, Mn and Zn in water from three sites in a decommissioned mining area near the city of Poços de Caldas (State of Minas Gerais, Brazil). A multi-tool approach was used, combining DGT, transplanted fish (Oreochromis niloticus) and water samples (total and dissolved metal concentration analyses).

Eutrophication, driven by nutrient enrichment, poses a global challenge, impacting the ecosystem, water supply systems, and ultimately, human health. In this research, water unavailability due to phosphorus pollution was assessed in Brazilian semiarid reservoirs with data measured over a decade. Management strategies to control eutrophication were simulated using physical-mathematical modeling of the phosphorus budget in the water and sediment layers.

In this study, we introduce a pioneering approach that leverages advanced machine learning and ultrahigh-resolution Fourier transform ion cyclotron mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS) data to predict the distribution of the total acid number (TAN) in true boiling point (TBP) distillation cuts from crude oil. By employing partial least-squares (PLS) regression and ordered predictor selection (OPS), we achieved robust predictive models with high accuracy, evidenced by low root-mean-square error of calibration (RMSEC) and strong correlation coefficients (Rc). Our analysis of 36 diverse crude oil samples revealed significant variations in chemical composition, with nitrogen- and oxygen-containing compounds playing key roles in influencing TAN values.

Background: The impact of biomass fuel exposure on mental health, along with the associated gender disparities, remains largely unexplored. This study aimed to examine the association between biomass fuel use and depressive symptoms in the population of Oaxaca, Mexico, while also identifying gender differences in this relationship.

Methods: This study used data from the 2022 National Health and Nutrition Survey (ENSANUT).
