Quantitative Multi-Parametric MRI of the Prostate Reveals Racial Differences.

This study investigates whether quantitative MRI and histology of the prostate reveal differences between races, specifically African Americans (AAs) and Caucasian Americans (CAs), that can affect diagnosis. Patients (98 CAs, 47 AAs) with known or suspected prostate cancer (PCa) underwent 3T MRI (T2W, DWI, and DCE-MRI) prior to biopsy or prostatectomy. Quantitative mpMRI metrics: ADC, T2, and DCE empirical mathematical model parameters were calculated.

Urban flooding: Coping with Weija Dam spillage by downstream communities in Ghana.

Unlabelled: This study adds to knowledge by specifically focusing on the dam spillage-induced floods within a fast-urbanising city with weak law enforcement in a developing country. Employing a sequential mixed-method approach, we first selected and analysed data from 120 respondents through a survey and complemented it with key informants residing in the communities affected by flooding. The findings revealed that dramatic ramifications of dam spillage-induced floods disrupt the livelihoods of many individuals in the form of disruption to income-generating activities and substantial property loss.

A multi-centre investigation of macrovascular and non-ocular microvascular complications in children and adolescents with diabetes mellitus in southern Ghana.

Objectives: To investigate the prevalence of macrovascular and non-ocular microvascular complications and the associated factors among children and adolescents with diabetes mellitus in selected hospitals in southern Ghana.

Design: A cross-sectional study.

Setting: The out-patient clinics of the Departments of Child Health, Medicine and Therapeutics, Family Medicine, Ophthalmology, and the National Diabetes Management and Research Centre, all at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Accra, as well as from Cape-Coast Teaching Hospital in the Central Region of Ghana.

When selecting a treatment, it is thus essential to consider the impact of medications on practice effects, an important type of learning ability.
