Background: Micro-RNAs (miRNAs) have been reported to play an important role during orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) through the regulation of periodontal soft and hard tissue homeostasis and functions. The aim of the present study was to assess the effects of miRNAs on OTM and to evaluate possible predictors that influenced the overall OTM amount at a 3-month follow-up.

Methods: Through a split-mouth design, 21 healthy patients (mean age 13.

Introduction: In the last decades, dermal fillers have gained widespread acceptance for cosmetic purposes since their approval for different health conditions, including lip augmentation and aesthetic intervention of the face. Unfortunately, while filler lip procedures are performed using biomaterials with improved physical characteristics, they are not devoid of adverse drug reactions (ADRs), including those with late-onset.

Methods: This systematic aims to investigate the ADRs associated with lip augmentation procedures using dermal fillers.

Article Synopsis
  • HPV is a major cause of oropharyngeal cancer, and detecting it in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is important for diagnosis and treatment.
  • This study evaluated two non-invasive methods, oral rinse and oral sponge, for detecting HPV DNA in 26 patients with confirmed OSCC.
  • Results showed that the oral sponge method was more effective, with higher specificity (100%), sensitivity (85.7%), and accuracy (96.2%) compared to oral rinse, suggesting it could improve HPV detection in clinical settings.

To date, there are very few epidemiologic studies on caries disease in 6-7 year old children living in Sicily (Southern Italy). The first permanent molar (FPM) is the most commonly affected tooth in this target population, and a one-unit increase in the number of decayed FPMs is predictive of caries in other teeth and in adulthood. The primary aim of this research is to estimate the prevalence of caries in 6-7 year old schoolchildren living in Palermo and, as a secondary aim, to estimate the prevalence of affected FPMs.

Ischemic stroke (also called cerebral ischemia) is one of the leading causes of death and severe disability worldwide. NLR inflammasomes play a crucial role in sensing cell damage in response to a harmful stimuli and modulating the inflammatory response, promoting the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-18 and IL-1β following ischemic injury. Therefore, a neuroprotective effect is achieved by inhibiting the expression, assembly, and secretion of inflammasomes, thus limiting the extent of brain detriment and neurological sequelae.
