Background: It is well known that in bidimensional photography the orientation of the head is fundamental to obtain a correct reproduction of the subject. Even minimal errors in yaw, roll and pitch of the head can be cause of unreliability of the photography itself. This is not the case in three-dimensional photography in which head positioning may have no influence on the reliability of the results since on the computer the 3D reconstruction of the face can be oriented as desired, allowing any small errors to be corrected.

Objectives: The development of 3D computer-assisted technologies over the past years has led to vast improvements in orthognathic surgery. The aim of the present study was to evaluate differences in maxillary position between 3D virtual surgical planning (VSP) and surgical results.
Materials And Methods: We assessed data from 25 patients who underwent bimaxillary non-segmented orthognathic surgery with 3D VSP.
Background/aim: The Controlling Nutritional status (CONUT) score, a valuable tool evaluating the preoperative conditions of patients from a nutritional point of view, has been successfully adopted for a plethora of malignancies including colorectal cancer (CRC). However, since rectal cancer has characteristics that differ from colon cancer (CC) and because, as of 2024, investigations targeted to surgical CC patients are lacking in the pertinent literature, we decided to assess the predictive role of this scoring system in relation to postoperative course and survival of surgical patients affected only by this malignancy. However, as of 2024, the existing literature on CONUT has typically treated colorectal cancer (CRC) as a single homogeneous entity, often combining results for both colon cancer (CC) and rectal cancer (RC).
