Background: Encapsulation of siRNA fragments inside liposome vesicles has emerged as an effective method for delivering siRNAs in vitro and in vivo. However, the liposome's fluid-phospholipid bilayer of liposomes allows siRNA fragments to diffuse out of the liposome, decreasing the dose concentration and therefore the effectiveness of the carrier. We have previously reported that β-cyclodextrins formulated in liposomes help increase the stability of siRNAs in cell culture medium.

Objective: This study, derived from the phase 3 SAFE trial (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT2236806), explores subclinical cardiac damage in breast cancer patients receiving anthracycline-based chemotherapy and left-sided breast radiation therapy (RT).

Materials And Methods: Eligible patients were randomized to a cardioprotective pharmacological therapy (bisoprolol, ramipril, or both) or placebo, with cardiac surveillance at multiple time-point using standard and 3-dimensional echocardiography.

The Lichtenstein open anterior approach with static flat meshes, the most popular inguinal hernia repair technique, has raised concerns regarding mesh fixation, defect patency, and poor quality biological response. To address these issues, the 3D dynamic ProFlor scaffold promoting a fixation-free hernia defect obliteration has been developed as an alternative. The results of open inguinal hernia repair with the ProFlor approach compared with those of the Lichtenstein repair were evaluated.

Background: Molecular characterization is pivotal for managing non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), although this process is often time-consuming and patients' conditions might worsen while molecular analyses are processed. Our primary aim was to evaluate the performance of "up-front" next-generation sequencing (NGS) through liquid biopsy (LB) of hospitalized patients with newly detected lung neoplasm in parallel with conventional diagnosis. The secondary aim included longitudinal monitoring through LB of patients with oncogenic alterations at baseline.

: Abdominal tuberculosis comprises all forms of tuberculosis that involve the gastrointestinal tract. Controversies exist regarding the surgical approach and timing and type of intervention for complicated forms of abdominal tuberculosis. The aim of this systematic review is to define the rate of surgical treatment, the type of surgical procedures performed and the role of minimally invasive surgery in the management of abdominal tuberculosis.
