During cesarean section and basal nitrous oxide anesthesia ketamine was given to 31 parturients in an intravenous, drop fashion at a rate of 2 mg/kg/min concurrently with atropine, pipolphen, and droperidol premedication. The objective monitoring of anesthesia by using electroencephalography and blood adrenaline, noradrenaline, and cortisol levels showed that ketamine added to the complex of anesthetics provided a good analgesia and caused no drug-induced fetal depression.
