Textbook Outcomes and Quality of Life Assessment Following Liver Resection for Colorectal Metastasis.

Background: It is unknown if textbook outcomes (TBOs) correlate with patient-reported health-related quality of life (HRQoL) parameters in patients undergoing hepatic resection for colorectal liver metastasises. Understanding this relationship is required to inform treatment decisions and optimise patient care. This single-centre analysis aims to assess this correlation and provide insight into the impact of liver resection on patient well-being in this population.

Comparing Open, Laparoscopic and Robotic Liver Resection for Metastatic Colorectal Cancer-A Systematic Review and Network Meta-Analysis.

Colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) can be surgically managed through open resections (OLR), laparoscopic resections (LLR), or robotic liver resections (RLR). However, there is ongoing uncertainty regarding the safety and effectiveness of minimally invasive approaches like LLR and RLR. This study aims to clarify these issues by conducting a network meta-analysis (NMA) to compare outcomes across OLR, LLR and RLR for patients with CRLM.

Management and patient outcomes following admission with acute cholecystitis in Ireland: A national registry-based study.

Introduction: Acute cholecystitis is a common general surgical emergency, accounting for 3-10 % of all patients attending with acute abdominal pain. International guidelines suggest that emergency cholecystectomy is the treatment of choice for uncomplicated acute cholecystitis where feasible. There is a paucity of published data on the uptake of emergency cholecystectomy in Ireland.

Real-time administration of indocyanine green in combination with computer vision and artificial intelligence for the identification and delineation of colorectal liver metastases.

Introduction: Fluorescence guided surgery for the identification of colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) can be better with low specificity and antecedent dosing impracticalities limiting indocyanine green (ICG) usefulness currently. We investigated the application of artificial intelligence methods (AIM) to demonstrate and characterise CLRMs based on dynamic signalling immediately following intraoperative ICG administration.

Methods: Twenty-five patients with liver surface lesions (24 CRLM and 1 benign cyst) undergoing open/laparoscopic/robotic procedures were studied.

Defining a textbook outcome for the resection of colorectal liver metastases.

Introduction: Textbook outcomes (TBO) are composite measures of care which may be superior in assessing quality compared to traditional methods. We aim to define TBO which are specific to surgical resection of colorectal liver metastases, and investigate their impact on survival.

Methods: Single center analysis of all liver resections performed at our center from 2009 to 2020.
