The effect of citoflavin and neoton preparations on the migration activity of neutrophil granulocytes under action of mitogen-induced immunocompetent blood cells, Peyer's patches, spleen and inguinal lymph was studied on a group of 55 male chinchilla rabbits with experimental model of widespread purulent peritonitis. It is established that the regulating action of immunocompetent cells on the migration of neutrophil leukocytes under the conditions of widespread purulent peritonitis is stable and widespread process, which is observed within 5 days of the postoperative period. The use of citoflavin and neoton during the postoperative period produces correction of the activity of immunocompetent cells, changing their properties in regulation of the migratory activity of neutrophil granulocytes.

Interactions between polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNL) and monocytes are changed in inflammatory diseases of the skin; these changes manifest by enhanced stimulation of PMNL migration under the effect of monocytes in psoriasis and by depression of this migration in eczema. In psoriasis HLA-DR-antigens and endogenic monocyte prostaglandins participate in this modulation of cooperative interactions between phagocytic cells, whereas in eczema PMNL superoxide anion takes part in this process. These data may be useful in the diagnosis of inflammatory diseases of the skin and disclose new aspects in the pathogenesis of psoriasis and eczema connected with phagocytic system cells.

The author offers a test system for studies of the interactions of agglutinating polymorphonuclear cells and neutrophilic leukocytes of human blood in a mixed cell culture. This method has demonstrated a modulation of the structural and functional status of the interacting cells. The counts of polymorphonuclear cells, expressing HLA-DR antigens, and of neutrophilic leukocytes with receptors to Fc fragment of IgG grow in the course of cell cultivation, and a number of cytokines, interleukin-1 and factors of chemotaxis of polymorphonuclear cells and neutrophilic leukocytes, are produced.

Rap mice were exposed to toluene (T) inhalation for 10 days before invasion with 20 Trichinella spiralis larvae per g body weight (moderate infection). This resulted in diminished number of intestinal parasites in the presence of greater number of mast cells in the peritoneal exudate, higher IgE production, enhanced cell adhesion to trichinella larvae and of migration of splenic lymphocytes. Simultaneous inhalation of T and ammonia diminished the immune stimulating effect of the former.

A method for assessment of interactions between blood polymorphonuclear leukocytes and monocytes is described, demonstrating the monocyte ability to stimulate polymorphonuclear leukocyte migration in capillary leukocyte migration test. Clinical trials of the method have shown enhanced monocyte stimulation of the migration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes in psoriasis patients during exacerbations of the disease. The method may be used for assessment of the immune status to detect disorders at the level of intercellular relations.
