The diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease.

Lyme disease has probably been reported for at least 80 years, with the cause unknown until the discovery of the Ixodes ricinus complex tick-borne spirochete B. burgdorferi. The incidence of diagnosed cases appears to be increasing in Kansas and elsewhere.
