PMA caused a dose- and time-dependent inhibition of thyrotropin (TSH), forskolin, and db-cAMP stimulation, indicating an effect distal to both TSH receptor and cAMP generation. No action was found on iodide efflux, indicating a selective inhibition of iodide uptake.
