Using axonal transport of a horseradish peroxidase, studies have been made on the connections of the limbic cortex with peripheral parts of the auditory cortex in rats. Ipsi- and contralateral projections from the rostral and caudal limbic cortex to the auditory cortex were described together with peculiarities of the distribution of neurones in fields 23 and 24 of the limbic cortex which send their axons to the auditory cortex.

Using axonal transport of horseradish peroxidase and electrophysiological mapping technique, studies have been made on structural and functional organization of the auditory cortex in rats. After the injection of HRP to peripheral parts of the auditory cortex, mainly initial neurones were found in the dorsal and median parts of the geniculate body. Electrophysiological experiments revealed the localization of neurones with widespread frequency-threshold curves and high thresholds at characteristic frequency.

The ability to perceive a moving sound image at dichotic stimulation was studied by means of avoidance technique for decorticated (AI, AII, Ep) dogs. The bilateral ablation disturbed the temporal cue discrimination of the direction of movement. But the animals retained the ability to localize the moving signal using delta I-cue.
