Along with increasing life expectancy and aging of the population, there is an increase in the incidence of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which often leads to blindness or irreversible vision loss and has a pronounced impact on the quality of life. Application of an extended complex of diagnostic techniques in ophthalmologic practice in order to expand the possibilities of early diagnosis and prognosis of the disease is urgent. Screening examination of patients with AMD was carried out.

A total of 60 patients presenting with coronary heart disease (CHD) were treated at the Kislovodsk military health resort. The objective of the work was to develop a non-medicamental therapeutic modality for their rehabilitative treatment and correction of disordered lipid metabolism. The balneotherapeutic treatment influencing one of the etiopathogenetic mechanisms underlying CHD resulted in the well-apparent tendency toward a decrease of the degree of dyslipidemia (reduction in the total cholesterol level, cholesterol of low density lipoproteins, and atherogenicity index in the absence of clinically significant adverse events.

The possibility to apply natural medicinal factors of a spa-and-resort facility along with targeted physiotherapeutic exposure (succinic acid electrophoresis, reflexo-segmental peloidotherapy) and polyoxidonium injections was evaluated. The study demonstrated high effectiveness of the proposed approach to medical rehabilitation of patients with chronic fatigue syndrome.
