The study was carried out to analyze the content of Clara's cells protein in highly premature newborns with respiration disorders in neonatal period. The sample of 106 premature newborns of gestational age 26-32 weeks and body mass at birth 660-1500 g was examined. The concentration of Clara's cells protein in bronchoalveolar liquid and blood serum was higher in patients with inborn pneumonia as compared with children with respiratory distress syndrome.

To determine urine cholinesterase activity in full-term neonatal infants with varying ischemic nephropathy in an intensive care unit, the investigators studied this enzyme on days 1 and 5-7 of life, by using a kinetic photometric test optimized according to the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Klinische Chemie (German Society for Clinical Chemistry) recommendations. In the early neonatal period, the newborns with grade III ischemic nephropathy were found to have a high urine cholinesterase activity. The determination of urine cholinesterase activity just on the first day of life may be used for the early diagnosis of grade III ischemic nephropathy in the newborns until the clinical manifestations of this pathology develop.

Sperm plasma was studied by induced chemiluminescence in males with reproductive dysfunction (infertility, miscarriage) in married couples and in the presence of antispermal antibodies (ASAB) detected by latex agglutination. In ASAB-positive patients, the light sum was found to be increased and equal to 14.23 imp/sec or more.

A number of biochemical parameters (total nitrites and nitrates (NO(x)), cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), nitrotyrosine, medium-weight molecules (MCM) in the placenta were determined in women with gestosis during discoordinated and powerless labor. Thirty placentas (10 placentas from parturients after discoordinated labor, 10 from those after powerless labor, 10 placentas as a control group) were examined. Changes in the parameters under study were found to result in the development of nitroxide and oxidant stresses and endotoxicosis.

To ascertain the level of medium-weight molecules in the plasma and urine in critically ill neonatal infants with varying ischemic nephropathy, the authors determined the content of medium-weight molecules by N. I. Gabrielyan's procedure modified by M.
