Background: Adverse medicine events (AMEs) are unintended effects that occur following administration of medicines. Up to 70% of AMEs are not reported to, and hence remain undetected by, health care professionals and only 6% of AMEs are reported to regulators. Increased reporting by consumers, health care professionals, and pharmaceutical companies to medicine regulatory authorities is needed to increase the safety of medicines.

Cannabidiol (CBD) exhibits multiple therapeutic properties, but its use in advanced cancer patients raises concerns about potential drug-drug interactions (DDIs) due to polypharmacy. This study aims to look for evidence of DDIs between concomitant medications and CBD oil in a randomized placebo-controlled trial of CBD oil for symptom control (MedCan-1 parent study). Surrogate measures were used to identify possible drug interactions: (1) the maximum mL of oil self-selected by patients in CBD or placebo groups in relation to opioids, specific drug groups, or individual agents; (2) the occurrence of any new or worse adverse effect in relation to the study arm and the concomitant medication classes/medications of interest.

The latest findings suggest that a basal insulin administration rate and a single, high-concentration injection before a meal may not be sufficient to maintain healthy blood glucose levels.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a multifactorial neurodegenerative disorder that is most prevalent in elderly individuals, especially in developed countries, and its prevalence is now increasing in developing countries like Pakistan.

Objective: Our goal was to characterize key genes and their levels of expression and related molecular transcriptome networks associated with AD pathogenesis in a pilot case-control study in a Pakistani population.

Methods: To obtain the spectrum of molecular networks associated with pathogenesis in AD patients in Pakistan (comparing cases and controls), we used high-throughput qRT-PCR (TaqMan Low-Density Array;  = 33 subjects) coupled with Affymetrix Arrays ( = 8) and Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA) to identify signature genes associated with Amyloid processing and disease pathways.
