This work investigates the interaction between gas channels in a vertical Hele-Shaw cell when air is injected simultaneously from two points at a constant flow rate. Unlike single-injection experiments, this dual-point system induces the formation of numerous bubbles, thereby intensifying the interactions between air channels. We use an image analysis technique for tracking motion in the granular bed to define a flow density parameter throughout the cell.

We report experiments on the dynamics of vibrated particles constrained in a two-dimensional vertical container, motivated by the following question: how to get the most out of a given external vibration to maximize internal disorder (e.g. to blend particles) and agitation (e.

This Letter focuses on the dynamics of a liquid jet impacting the surface of a confined, immersed granular bed. Although previous works have considered the erosion process and surface morphology, less attention has been given to the jet hydrodynamics. Based on laboratory experiments, we show that when the liquid jet forms a crater, two situations arise.

The host switching of Hypoderma actaeon (Diptera: Oestridae), a specific parasite of red deer (Cervus elaphus), towards roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) has been recently reported in Spain. To provide information about the temporal and spatial spreading of H. actaeon infection in roe deer, 244 serum samples from animals hunted in Spain between 2013 and 2018 were analysed by an indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.

Frictional weakening by vibrations was first invoked in the 70s to explain unusual fault slips and earthquakes, low viscosity during the collapse of impact craters or the extraordinary mobility of sturzstroms, peculiar rock avalanches which travels large horizontal distances. This mechanism was further invoked to explain the remote triggering of earthquakes or the abnormally large runout of landslides or pyroclastic flows. Recent experimental and theoretical works pointed out that the key parameter which governs frictional weakening in sheared granular media is the characteristic velocity of the vibrations.
