Article Synopsis
  • Neurology research has historically favored male subjects, with a lack of reporting on sex differences; recent trends emphasize including more female participants and accurately assessing sex distinctions in studies.
  • A scoping review from 2014 to 2020 analyzed literature on sex differences across four neurological subspecialties (demyelination, headache, stroke, epilepsy) and found that 585 relevant studies met the criteria, primarily observational and rarely random controlled trials.
