Several examples of recent studies by in situ straining experiments in a transmission electron microscope performed in the Toulouse group (France) are presented. In particular, quantitative measurements of the features of the dislocation motion are described. These examples deal with individual or collective propagation of dislocations, which are submitted to various types of obstacle.

A survey of helminth infection was conducted in a flock of 290 ewes distributed into Romanov (R), Merinos d'Arles (M) and Romanov x Merinos (R x M) genetic types, grazing irrigated pasture in the south of France. Faecal egg and larval counts were done seven times per year from 1981 to 1984 on homogeneous groups of ewes and then individually once to four times every autumn from 1985 to 1988. Helminth fauna was diverse and more abundant during autumn.

Four groups of 50 4-6-month old ewe-lambs were vaccinated with 1 or 2 living attenuated vaccines administered simultaneously. One hundred ewe-lambs received B melitensis strain REV 1 vaccine subcutaneously and 100 others received Rev 1 vaccine conjunctivally. In each group, 50 ewe-lambs simultaneously received the S abortusovis strain Rv6 vaccine via a contralateral subcutaneous route.
