In 2020, the European Commission published a regulation that states all producers of white paints containing titanium dioxide (TiO) must provide a warning label on their products. Exposure during the production and application of products containing TiO can be harmful, and therefore these products must be labeled as "may cause cancer." The paint industry is a major user of TiO pigment.

Macrophage biologists utilize peritoneal (pMAC) and bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDM) for studies. Given that pMACs mature while BMDM are differentiated from stem cells, it is likely that their responses differ under experimental conditions.

An observational, analytical, retrospective cohort study was conducted in the Department of Internal Medicine at Alicante General University Hospital between January 2014 and December 2015. Blood samples were frozen at - 80 °C, and cytokines were measured by ELISA.

In an effort toward safer and simpler alternatives to the use of radioisotopes, we developed a quantitative and highly sensitive matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS) method that relies on the use of chemically tagged ligands designed to be specifically detectable when present as traces in complex biological mixtures such as cellular lysates. This innovative technology allows easy, sensitive detection and accurate quantification of analytes at the sub-nanomolar level.

Efficient methods for screening populations for undiagnosed atrial fibrillation (AF) are needed to reduce its associated mortality, morbidity, and costs. The use of digital technologies, including wearable sensors and large health record data sets allowing for targeted outreach toward individuals at increased risk for AF, might allow for unprecedented opportunities for effective, economical screening. The trial's primary objective is to determine, in a real-world setting, whether using wearable sensors in a risk-targeted screening population can diagnose asymptomatic AF more effectively than routine care.
