Hypermobility Assessment in 1,004 Adult Patients Presenting with Hip Pain: Correlation with Diagnoses and Demographics.

Background: The strength of the association between hypermobility and developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) in adults is unknown. We sought to analyze this relationship in a prospective, blinded, institutional review board-approved, observational study. The hypothesis was that the prevalence of generalized joint hypermobility (GJH) would be significantly higher in patients with hip dysplasia than in those with other hip diagnoses on the basis of clinical observations of joint laxity.

Surgical Technique for Harvesting ECRL and ECRB Concurrently as Upper Extremity Tendon Autograft.

Upper extremity tendon autograft harvest has many indications and techniques. Many harvest sites provide only 1 single autograft and/or require surgical set up of more extremities than the primary one of interest. In this report, we describe an easily reproducible, quick, and low-morbidity technique using both the wrist extensors-extensor carpi radialis longus and extensor carpi radialis brevis, from near their distal attachments to their musculotendinous junctions proximally-as a source of tendon autograft for a variety of applications.

Operative findings and complications associated with adjunctive hip arthroscopy in 95 hips undergoing periacetabular osteotomy.

Purpose: to report our initial experience with adjunctive hip arthroscopy and periacetabular osteotomy (PAO).

Methods: Retrospective review of patients who underwent PAO and ipsilateral hip arthroscopy between 2003 and 2013. Indications for arthroscopy were mechanical symptoms and/or positive magnetic resonance imaging to suggest intra-articular pathology including chondrolabral lesions, ligamentum teres tears and hypertrophy, and synovitis.

Intra-articular lipoma of the hip.

Intra-articular lipoma of the hip is a rare entity, with only two reports published in the English-language literature. We present a case of successful arthroscopic resection of an intra-articular peripheral compartment lipoma in a 69-year-old woman with a coincident labral tear. This woman presented with left hip pain that developed gradually over 2 years and increased over 2 months.

Primary Osteomyelitis of the Clavicle in Children.

Osteomyelitis of the clavicle is a rare entity with a broad differential diagnosis and high potential for complications if not diagnosed promptly and treated appropriately. The threshold for surgical intervention should be low to prevent osteonecrosis and bony resorption. In addition, although rare, life-threatening complications have been reported.
