Mathematical modelling and software simulation nowadays are very effective tools for both understanding and predicting corrosion processes and the protection of metallic components. COMSOL Multiphysics 5.6 software provides validated mathematical models that can be used, for a given geometry, as a tool to predict and prevent corrosion of components.

Methods And Materials: A prospective study of 130 patients who underwent external radiation therapy (RT) for stage T1 to T4 prostate cancer between 1997 and 2008 was performed. Treatments were conventional (2-dimensional [2D]) in 61 patients and 3D conformal in 69, with a median target dose of 72 Gy (70-74 Gy).
Aim: Even if youths are generally perceived to be healthy, adolescent years are associated with significant morbidity. Screening and counselling programmes seem to be cost-effective but adolescents prefer to rely on health care services for the treatment of diagnosed diseases or injuries rather than for preventive actions. Age oriented studies are needed for better understanding the health needs of adolescents in order to provide an adequate offer of preventive opportunities.

Summary Background Data: PPCs are common during the postoperative period and may be associated with a high morbidity rate. Efficacy of CPAP to prevent PPCs occurrence is controversial.

The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for cytomegalovirus (CMV) DNA quantitation provides sensitive and specific data for detecting CMV as well as monitoring the infection and determining the appropriate antiviral strategy. A recently introduced real-time PCR assay for CMV DNA quantitation was applied on 158 peripheral blood leukocytes (PBLs) from 32 liver-transplanted patients with CMV asymptomatic infection and correlated with a commercial quantitative end-point PCR (COBAS AMPLICOR CMV Monitor) and CMV pp65 antigenemia. A good correlation was found between real-time PCR and pp65 antigen test (r2 = 0.
