Microbial volatile organic compounds measured in the air of a waste sorting plant and a university by thermal desorption-gas chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry.

In recyclable waste management facilities, several contaminants, mainly bioaerosols and microorganisms, can be released and cause potential adverse health effects. Given that microbial volatile organic compounds (mVOCs) are metabolites developed by molds and since they can be considered as potential biomarkers of mold exposure, their concentrations in ambient air were monitored at a recyclable waste sorting plant (WSP) and a university campus (UC) serving as control environment for comparison. A recently developed analytical method was used for the detection of 21 selected mVOCs in real conditions.

Conservative laparoscopic torsioning with or without cystectomy or oophoropexy has emerged as a promising approach for the management of ovarian torsion, particularly in pediatric populations. We sought to understand the efficacy of this approach. We comprehensively reviewed the relevant literature.

Efficacy of a TNF inhibitor in chronic low back pain with Modic changes type 1: The BackToBasic study A randomized controlled trial.

Objective: The efficacy of TNF inhibitors for treating chronic low back pain with Modic changes is uncertain. This study investigated the superiority of infliximab over placebo in patients with Modic changes type 1.

Methods: In this multicenter, randomized, triple-blind, placebo-controlled trial, patients aged 18-65 with moderate to severe chronic low back pain and Modic changes type 1 were enrolled from five Norwegian public hospitals between January 2019 and October 2022.

EAONO/JOS, STAMCO, ChOLE & Potsic Staging of 271 Pediatric Cholesteatoma: Evidence-Based Mod-Pot Staging System.

Objective: The objective was to assess Potsic, EAONO/JOS, STAMCO, and ChOLE cholesteatoma staging systems in a large homogenous pediatric cohort with long-term follow-up and propose an evidence-based improved version.

Study Design: Cohort study.

Setting: Retrospective study in a tertiary referral center.
