Objective: To investigate the effect of reducing exposure time to at-home bleaching gel on color change and tooth sensitivity.

Materials And Methods: The search was carried out using PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, EMBASE, LILACS, Cochrane. Randomized clinical trials (RCTs) were included involving adult patients who have never undergone bleaching treatment before (P), subjected to bleaching with a reduced exposure time to the at-home bleaching agent (I) compared to those who used it for the time indicated by the manufacturer (C), to evaluate the effects on color change and tooth sensitivity (O).

Article Synopsis
  • This study investigates the link between specific genetic variations (SNPs) in the COX-2 gene and the occurrence of external apical root resorption (EARR) in patients after orthodontic treatment.* -
  • Data was collected from 143 orthodontic patients, with analyses focusing on the maxillary central incisors and first mandibular molars, and two SNPs (rs5275 and rs689466) were genotyped using real-time PCR.* -
  • Results show that patients carrying one copy of the G allele for SNP rs5275 have a significant increase in EARR for mandibular molars, suggesting that COX-2 genetic factors may influence the risk of root resorption during orthodontic care.*

Objectives: To investigate the association between genetic polymorphisms in suppressor of cytokine signaling-1 (SOCS-1), tumor necrosis factor-⍺ (TNF-α) and its receptors 1 and 2 (TNFRSF1A and TNFRSF1B), receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-b (RANK), receptor activator of nuclear factor-kappa B ligand (RANKL) and osteoprotegerin (OPG), and persistent apical periodontitis (PAP).

Methods: Patients with pulp necrosis and apical periodontitis at the time of non-surgical root canal treatment were followed up for at least one year. A total of 423 subjects were included, 172 with signs/symptoms of PAP and 251 with apical periodontitis healed.

Objectives: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of ClinCheck, Dolphin Imaging orthodontic software, and 3D Slicer for the analysis of Bolton discrepancy (BD).

Materials And Methods: Fifty-five pairs of early-stage digital models of patients treated with Invisalign were printed to measure the BD by manual method with a digital caliper (gold standard). The discrepancy values calculated by ClinCheck were obtained.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of rapid palatal expansion (RPE) using Haas-type expanders on children's oral health-related quality of life (OHRQOL) and compare said effect with that previously reported for the use of Hyrax-type expanders.

Materials And Methods: Forty participants aged 8-10 years with transverse maxillary deficiency were treated using Haas appliances. OHRQOL was measured using the CPQ before RPE, during RPE (T), at the end of RPE (T), and 1 month after appliance removal (T).
