Electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (CO) into sustainable fuels and base chemicals requires precise control over and understanding of activity, selectivity and stability descriptors of the electrocatalyst under operation. Identification of the active phase under working conditions, but also deactivation factors after prolonged operation, are of the utmost importance to further improve electrocatalysts for electrochemical CO conversion. Here, we present a multiscale in situ investigation of activation and deactivation pathways of oxide-derived copper electrocatalysts under CO reduction conditions.

We report the reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) dispersion polymerization of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) in -dodecane using a poly(lauryl methacrylate) (PLMA) precursor at 90 °C. This formulation is an example of polymerization-induced self-assembly (PISA), which leads to the formation of a colloidal dispersion of spherical PLMA-PHEMA nanoparticles at 10-20% w/w solids. PISA syntheses involving polar monomers in non-polar media have been previously reported but this particular system offers some unexpected and interesting challenges in terms of both synthesis and characterization.

Extracorporeal therapies could be required for treatment of life-threatening severe acute intoxication. We present the case of an 82-year-old patient admitted to our Nephrology Unit because of metformin-associated lactic acidosis (MALA) and acute kidney injury (AKI stage III AKIN criteria). The patient also presented severe intoxication of digoxin and apixaban.

Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) refers to the abnormal protrusion of abdominal contents (stomach, intestine) into the thoracic cavity, leading to the underdevelopment of the lungs (pulmonary hypoplasia). It is a critical neonatal condition that presents significant challenges in both diagnosis and management, especially in resource-limited countries. This case report describes a term female baby born via normal vaginal delivery to a mother with no prenatal care.
