Background: Monitoring service quality for family planning programmes in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) has been challenging due to data availability. Self-reported service quality from Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) can provide additional information on quality beyond simple service contact.
Methods: The DHS collects need, use and counselling for contraceptives.
Introduction: Lupus nephritis (LN) affects almost two-thirds of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients. Despite initial aggressive therapy, up to 25% of patients with LN will progress to permanent renal damage. Conventional serum markers for LN lack the sensitivity of an ideal biomarker.

Several studies suggest that left ventricular mass and function is strongly modulated by the nitric oxide (NO) system. Asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), an endogenous inhibitor of endothelial-based NO synthase, is emerging as an important cardiovascular risk factor in ESRD patients.

Imatinib (IMT) is a selective tyrosine kinase inhibitor, used in the treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia and gastrointestinal stromal tumors. Its strong plasma protein binding was found to belong to the F1*S genetic variant of α(1)-acid glycoprotein (AGP). In this work, comparative AGP binding studies were performed with IMT fragment molecules to reveal which parts of the molecule are important in the high-affinity interaction provoking specific spectral changes.

The binding of deramciclane (DER), a chiral anxiolytic agent, has been studied on A and F1/S genetic variants of AGP.
