The elimination rate of TCDD was re-estimated from measurements of internal concentrations in Vietnam veterans with a model that can account for age dependent body composition, and both age and (calendar) time dependent background intake. Estimates of the specific elimination rate, which is independent of body composition, did not differ much between fits with different simplifications of this model for this particular data set. The model divides the body into several physiological compartments, their weights being functions of age. Aluminum fluoride and magnesium, activators of heterotrimeric GTP-binding proteins, affect high-affinity binding of the fungal toxin fusicoccin to the fusicoccin-binding protein in oat root plasma membranes.

The fusicoccin-binding protein was solubilised from purified oat root plasma membranes. The solubilised protein retained full binding activity, provided that protease inhibitors were included. Sodium fluoride reduced the high-affinity [3H]fusicoccin binding to almost zero in a concentration-dependent way, with an optimum at approximately 20 mM sodium fluoride.
