The aim was to evaluate the practice of hiding the needle prior to dental anesthesia administration to children. Fourteen 5 and 6 year olds received dental treatment in two sessions. The needle was shown in one session and hidden in the other.

Chemomechanical caries removal, introduced almost three decades ago, was claimed to be a non-invasive alternative for the removal of carious dentine. In essence, the technique involved applying a solution onto the decayed dentinal tissue, allowing it to soften it, and, finally, scraping it off with blunt hand instruments.

The mouth tends to be turned into a wrinkled, rigid, unyielding structure, resembling the semi-rigid mouth of the fish. Such burns are most frequently caused by electricity or flames, and less frequently by chemical substances.
