Background: Subjective Cognitive Decline (SCD) is characterized by cognitive complaints in cognitively unimpaired (CU) individuals. Its condition displays considerable heterogeneity etiologies, including neurodegenerative diseases. Our aim is to compare the memory complaints between patients with SCD and their informants in the BRASCODE cohort.

Background: Subjective cognitive decline (SCD) is the self-perceived impairment of cognitive function and has been studied as a risk factor for objective cognitive impairment. Monitoring patients with SCD can aid in understanding the risk factors for dementia in low- and middle-income countries. We aimed to describe the baseline sociodemographic and clinical data of the Brazilian Subjective Cognitive Decline (BRASCODE) METHODS: BRASCODE is an observational, prospective cohort study of cognitively unimpaired individuals with > 65 years-old with cognitive complaints conducted at the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Cascade reservoirs affect mercury concentrations in fish from Teles Pires river, Brazilian Amazon.

Hydroelectric reservoirs favor mercury contamination in biota, but the contamination in cascade reservoirs is not yet clear. We investigated total mercury (THg) contamination in fish in four cascade reservoirs in the Brazilian Amazon between August 2022 and April 2023. Overall, downstream predatory fish showed higher mercury concentrations than those upstream.

The Patterns of P53, E-Cadherin, β-Catenin, CXCR4 and Podoplanin Expression in Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma Suggests a Hybrid Invasion Model: an Immunohistochemical Study on Tissue Microarrays.

Purpose: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a significant public health challenge associated with high mortality rates primarily due to its invasive and metastatic behavior. This study aimed to evaluate the expression patterns of five critical biomarkers: β-catenin, E-cadherin, podoplanin (PDPN), CXCR4, and p53 in OSCC tissues and to investigate their correlations with clinicopathologic features and patient outcomes.
