Background: Insomnia and substance use disorders (SUD) are common comorbidities of bipolar disorder (BD). Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have uncovered shared genetic contributions to insomnia and BD as well as SUDs and BD. Electronic health record (EHR) derived phenotypes (phecodes) and questionnaire data were used to examine the relationship between insomnia genetic liability and SUDs in BD.

In vitro cellular assays are indispensable tools for preclinical understanding of therapeutic candidates. Herein, we have outlined methods for robust determination of cellular sensitivities by adapting drug-induced growth-rate inhibition analysis combined with intracellular drug exposure measurements. Using two auristatins as tool molecules, we demonstrate wide variety of cellular response in sensitive versus resistant cancer cells, as well as in a toxicity-relevant cell type.

Commonly prescribed medications and risk of pneumonia and all-cause mortality in people with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis: a UK population-based cohort study.

Background: A growing body of evidence suggests that prolonged use of inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) and proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) is associated with increased risks of pneumonia. A substantial proportion of people with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) are prescribed PPIs or ICS to treat common comorbidities, giving rise to concerns that use of these medications may be associated with potential harms in this patient population.

Methods: We used UK Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) Aurum primary care data linked to national mortality and hospital admissions data to create a cohort of people diagnosed with IPF on or after 1 January 2010.
