Macrolides reduce exacerbations when added to inhaled therapy in severe asthma. However, there is little published evidence for effectiveness in patients treated with biologics. We conducted a retrospective audit of all patients who started azithromycin while on biologics in our centre.

Our modern understanding of asthma mainly concerns identification of inflammatory endotype to guide management. The distinction mostly concerns identification of type-2 inflammation, for which different biomarkers have been well characterized. Blood eosinophils corroborate activity in the interleukin (IL)-5 axis while fraction of exhaled nitric oxide is indicative of the IL-4/IL-13 axis, giving us an indication of activity in these distinct but complementary pathways.

A series of group 4 bis(isopropoxide) complexes M[N^O](OPr), stabilized by guanidine-phenolate N^O ligands, have been prepared and used as catalysts for the polymerization of unpurified -lactide under solvent-free conditions at 130 °C. The resulting polylactic acid (PLA) presented heterotactic bias ( = 0.56-0.

Background: Specific inhalation challenge (SIC) tests are still the reference test for diagnosing sensitizer-induced occupational asthma (SIOA). The European Respiratory Society recommends the cessation of inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) 72 hours before SIC.

Objective: To assess the effect of an ongoing ICS treatment during SIC on the maximum fall in forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV), the change in methacholine provocative concentration of methacholine inducing a 20% fall in FEV (PC), and sputum eosinophil counts after exposure to the suspected agent.

Our goal was to evaluate persisting deficits in gait and executive functioning in asymptomatic athletes with a history of concussion using a novel approach combining a dual-task paradigm and post-exercise exertion. Thirty-eight athletes aged 17 to 25 years old participated in the study, including 18 with a history of concussion. The dual-task paradigm required walking continuously at a predetermined self-paced target speed of 6.
