Preparation, Optimization, and In-Vitro Evaluation of Brusatol- and Docetaxel-Loaded Nanoparticles for the Treatment of Prostate Cancer.

Challenges to docetaxel use in prostate cancer treatment include several resistance mechanisms as well as toxicity. To overcome these challenges and to improve the therapeutic efficacy in heterogeneous prostate cancer, the use of multiple agents that can destroy different subpopulations of the tumor is required. Brusatol, a multitarget inhibitor, has been shown to exhibit potent anticancer activity and play an important role in drug response and chemoresistance.

Successful implementation of a stakeholder engagement program for pharmacoepidemiologic research.

Purpose: Rigorously conducted pharmacoepidemiologic research requires methodologically complex study designs and analysis yet evaluates problems of high importance to patients and clinicians. Despite this, participation in and mechanisms for stakeholder engagement in pharmacoepidemiologic research are not well-described. Here, we describe our approach and lessons learned from engaging stakeholders, of varying familiarity with research methods, in a rigorous multi-year pharmacoepidemiologic research program evaluating the comparative effectiveness of diabetes medications.

Making a difference in the real world. User-centred impact evaluation of an eight-country, community-based early childhood programme.

This paper presents a unique approach to the Impact Evaluation of a project that focused on low-threshold intergenerational play-based interactions in order to support young children from marginalised communities in eight European countries. The approach builds upon the work of Fetterman's Empowerment Evaluation and Patton's Utilization Focused Evaluation and brings them together to form an adapted model of evaluation. We outline in this paper how these two well developed methods of evaluation have been applied to a real world context, that is, the impact evaluation of a complex international project.

Adherence to Option B Care for the Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission Among Pregnant Women in Ethiopia.

Purpose: Even if progressive efforts were made in Ethiopia, half of new HIV infections result from mother-to-child transmission. Limited studies assessed the level and factors of adherence that differ among different populations across the country. So, this study aimed to investigate the level and predictors of adherence to the prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) Option B care among pregnant women in central Ethiopia.

Individual-based modelling of population growth and diffusion in discrete time.

Individual-based models (IBMs) of human populations capture spatio-temporal dynamics using rules that govern the birth, behavior, and death of individuals. We explore a stochastic IBM of logistic growth-diffusion with constant time steps and independent, simultaneous actions of birth, death, and movement that approaches the Fisher-Kolmogorov model in the continuum limit. This model is well-suited to parallelization on high-performance computers.
