The industrial advancement of downstream products resulting from the directed hydrogenation of maleic anhydride is hindered by the limitations related to the activity and stability of catalysts. The development of nonprecious metal intermetallic compounds, in which active sites are adjustable in the local structures and electronic properties embedded within a distinct framework, holds immense potential in enhancing catalytic efficacy and stability. Herein, we report that nickel-based silicides catalysts, RNiSi (R = Ca, La, and Y), afford high efficiency in the selective hydrogenation of maleic anhydride.

Introduction: Limb-sparing surgery combined with radiation has become the standard treatment for soft tissue sarcomas. Despite the many advantages of reconstruction procedures, such as muscle-sparing flap and local reconstruction, the use of pedicled perforator flaps remains non-consensual due to doubts about their reliability when associated with radiotherapy. This study evaluated their surgical reliability in reconstructive surgery for limb and trunk soft tissue sarcomas, in terms of healing time, wound disorders, and postoperative complications, regardless of radiation timing.

Introduction: Radiation therapy may cause a range of side effects of the skin within the irradiated area. Not of all the reactive effects of the skin induced by radiation therapy have to be related to some forms of radiodermatitis, and when non-standard clinical presentations overcome, it may be necessary to undertake appropriate diagnostic tools to not be in trap of wrong diagnosis.

Background: The management of bone exposure in patients with extensive burns could be a challenge due to the lack of healthy tissue. In such cases, it could be interesting to use any still healthy tissue initially destined for amputation and use it to cover up another site. The catalytic performance of Fe supported on nickel phosphate (NiP) was evaluated for the removal of bisphenol A (BPA) by catalytic wet air oxidation (CWAO) at 140 °C and 25 bar of pure oxygen pressure.
