Background: The use of videoconference platforms for neuropsychological assessment was not as common among mental health practitioners before the COVID-19 pandemic. However, due to lockdowns and quarantines worldwide, mental health professionals had to find a feasible alternative and shift to virtual evaluations. This increased the use of teleneuropsychology in both at a clinical and research level.

Background: Remote administration of well-established neuropsychological instruments (TeleNeuropsychological or TeleNP) can reduce assessment wait times and expand access to cognitive assessments for medically compromised and socially disadvantaged patients. A major limitation in the widespread uptake of TeleNP relates to the need for more normative data compared to in-person assessments. This presentation describes a novel ascertainment strategy used in Florida's Older Adults TeleNeuropsychology (FLOAT) project to identify and recruit "cognitively healthy" older adults to norm well-established neuropsychological instruments administered remotely.

Background: The Uniform Data Set (UDS) neuropsychological battery, administered across Alzheimer's Disease Centers (ADC), includes memory tests but lacks a list-learning paradigm. ADCs often supplement the UDS with their own preferred list-learning task. Given the importance of list-learning for characterizing memory, we aimed to develop a harmonized memory score that incorporates UDS memory tests while allowing centers to contribute differing list-learning tasks.

The cellular concentrations of splicing factors (SFs) are critical for controlling alternative splicing. Most serine and arginine-enriched (SR) protein SFs regulate their own concentration via a homeostatic feedback mechanism that involves regulation of inclusion of non-coding 'poison exons' (PEs) that target transcripts for nonsense-mediated decay. The importance of SR protein PE splicing during animal development is largely unknown despite PE ultra-conservation across animal genomes.

Background:  Nephrotoxin exposure may worsen kidney injury and impair kidney recovery if continued in patients with acute kidney injury (AKI).

Objectives:  This study aimed to determine if tiered implementation of a clinical decision support system (CDSS) would reduce nephrotoxin use in cardiac surgery patients with AKI.

Methods:  We assessed patients admitted to the cardiac surgery intensive care unit at a tertiary care center from January 2020 to December 2021, and August 2022 to September 2023.
