Temporal muscle flap in reconstruction of maxillo-facial tissues.

Aim Of The Study: Presents our experience in reconstruction of postsurgical defects with use of temporal muscle flap.

Material And Methods: In the years 1996-2010 we treated 10 patients with malignant neoplasms of maxillo-facial region. Following tumor removal the fascia-muscle flaps of temporal muscle were used for reconstruction.

An image-guided, noninvasive method of cannulation of the foramen ovale for awake, percutaneous radiofrequency rhizotomy.

The authors describe a simple and low-cost technique for image-guided cannulation of the foramen ovale during treatment of medically refractory trigeminal neuralgia using percutaneous radiofrequency rhizotomy. Computed tomography-guided neuronavigation and the noninvasive ear, nose, and throat Small Active Frame system were applied for visualization of cannulation of the foramen ovale in the awake patient. Use of invasive head-clamp fixation was unnecessary.

[Face cancer infiltrating of ethmoid-orbito-nasal complex].

Face cancer is one of the most common skin tumors and because of its locations is usually early diagnosed. In spite of this a lot of recurrence after surgical treatment are observed. It is caused a lack of proper margins in sequence of limitation excision because of esthetic and functional reasons.

[Pleomorphic adenoma of the parapharyngeal space: a case report].

The authors described a case of parapharyngeal space pleomorphic adenoma in a 22-year-old patient. The excision of the tumor through the mouth, without cutting up the jaw bone, turned out safe and radical.

The use of bone-marrow-derived fibroblastoid cells and fresh bone marrow in the treatment of bone defects: an experimental study.

Bone-marrow aspirate (containing bone progenitor cells), in vitro expanded autologous bone-marrow-derived stromal fibroblastoid cells, and a combination thereof were tested for the potential to fill bone defects. They were compared to grafts of fresh autologous bone or allogeneic devitalized bone. Mandibular defects in rabbits were chosen for this study.
