Article Synopsis
  • * A study involving 207 newly diagnosed GCT patients linked higher expression levels of GSTM1 to poorer treatment outcomes, particularly in terms of relapse-free survival, especially in tumor types like seminoma and choriocarcinoma.
  • * The findings indicate that GSTM1 levels are a potential indicator of treatment resistance in GCTs and may help predict patient outcomes independently of other established risk factors.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (AdCC) is one of the most common salivary gland malignancies and occurs in all major and minor salivary gland and seromucous gland sites. AdCCs of salivary gland origin have long been categorized as fusion-defined carcinomas owing to the almost consistent presence of fusion genes MYB::NFIB, or less commonly MYBL1::NFIB. We collected a cohort of 95 cases of AdCC, which were largely characterized by canonical fusions MYB::NFIB (49 cases) or MYBL1::NFIB (9 cases).

Slovakia has one of the highest rates of colorectal cancer among the developed countries, ranking as the second highest in the incidence of this disease for men worldwide. Despite the significant burden on both quality of life and the healthcare system this disease imposes, data on molecular analysis of biomarkers in CRC-diagnosed patients is scarce. In our study, we analyzed confirmed CRC patients from the database of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and evaluated the presence of 4 biomarkers in tumor tissues.

Background: Metastatic germ cell cancer of the testis is characterized by favorable prognosis since effective treatment methods are available even in cases of extensive disease. Retroperitoneal masses frequently encroach major blood vessels requiring a vascular intervention usually performed in association with the post-chemotherapy retroperitoneal lymph node dissection (RPLND). Reported clinical case describes a successful pre-treatment endovascular surgery for abdominal aortic rupture allowing for full-dose systemic chemotherapy administration, and subsequent radical surgical intervention at primary tumor site as well as metastatic retroperitoneal lymph node dissection including the reconstruction of inferior caval vein.
