The aim of the current study was to evaluate the effectiveness of intraoperative neuromonitoring (INM) as an adjunct in performing tarsal tunnel decompression surgery. We reviewed 38 patients who met inclusion criteria. INM was used to measure the voltage of the abductor hallucis and digiti quinti muscles both before and after decompression.

Case Report: We present a case of PIG with pulmonary hypertension without underlying cardiac disease. This patient presented with respiratory distress and spontaneous pneumothorax at 6 months of age.

Background Fatalities from acute compression have been reported with soft-drink vending machine tipping, motor vehicle accidents, and trench cave-ins. A major mechanism of such deaths is flail chest but the amount of force required is unclear. Between the range of a safe static chest compression force of 1000 N (102 kg with earth gravity) and a lethal dynamic force of 10-20 kN (falling 450 kg vending machines), there are limited quantitative human data on the force required to cause flail chest, which is a major correlate of acute fatal compression asphyxia.

Single-dimension separations are routinely coupled in series to achieve two-dimensional separations, yet little has been done to simultaneously exploit multiple dimensions during separation. In this work, simultaneous chromatography and electrophoresis is introduced and evaluated for its potential to achieve two-dimensional separations. In simultaneous chromatography and electrophoresis, chromatography occurs via capillary action while an orthogonal electric field concurrently promotes electrophoresis in a second dimension.
