Introduction And Importance: Endometriosis is a prevalent condition within the female reproductive age group, but its presentation and diagnosis still pose a challenge as it mimics other diseases and affects multiple organ systems.

Case Presentation: A 24-year-old nulliparous female presented with complaints of menorrhagia, lower abdominal pain, post-coital bleeding, and significant weight loss for 7 months.

Clinical Discussion: The case highlights the challenge of diagnosing endometriosis due to its ability to mimic other conditions, such as carcinoma cervix and rectum.

The high affinity interaction between P-selectin glycoprotein ligand-1 (PSGL-1) and P-selectin is mediated by a multimotif glycosulfopeptide (GSP) recognition domain consisting of clustered tyrosine sulfates and a Core 2 -glycan terminated with sialyl Lewis (C2--sLe). These distinct GSP motifs are much more common than previously appreciated within a wide variety of functionally important domains involved in protein-protein interactions. However, despite the potential of GSPs to serve as tools for fundamental studies and prospects for drug discovery, their utility has been limited by the absence of chemical schemes for synthesis on scale.

Article Synopsis
  • This study examines how biochemical factors can help predict what kind of ventilatory support severely ill COVID-19 patients might need, as previous research has mainly focused on mortality predictions.
  • The research found significant differences in various biochemical levels between patients on non-invasive versus invasive ventilation, noting that higher levels of Urea, Sodium, Indirect Bilirubin, AST, and Procalcitonin are associated with the need for invasive support, while lower Albumin levels are linked to this requirement.
  • The results suggest that monitoring these biochemical parameters could improve patient management in ICUs by helping determine which type of ventilation might be most suitable for individual patients.

Introduction And Importance: An inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor is commonly seen in the lungs but rarely in the appendix. It has a distinct inflammatory cell component and myofibroblastic component. The study presents an inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor of the appendix in an elderly who presented with acute appendicitis and was later found to have an appendicular mass intraoperatively.

Background: Excessive and irrational use of antibiotics as growth promoters in poultry has been one of key factors contributing to increased emergence of antibiotics resistant bacteria. Several alternatives for antibiotic growth promoters are being sought, and the search for effective probiotics to be used as feed additives is amongst the promising ones. Our study aimed to isolate and test potential probiotics bacteria from cloacal swabs of various indigenous chicken (Gallus domesticus) breeds from rural outskirts of the Kathmandu valley (Nepal).
