Kinase of embryonic stem cells (Kos1), a nonreceptor protein tyrosine kinase (NRPTK), was identified and cloned from differentiating murine embryonic stem cells. Kos1 is localized on mouse chromosome 11 that corresponds to human chromosome 17p13.1 and is homologous to Tnk1, Ack1 and Ack2, making it a new member of the Ack family of NRPTKs.

Idiopathic neuromuscular disease of the gastrointestinal tract (functional bowel disease) is thought to result from the malfunction of neurons within the enteric nervous system. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogs have recently been shown to organize the disordered motility patterns typical in these patients and to produce significant, long-term symptomatic improvement. To determine whether GnRH analogs might bind to an endogenous enteric nervous system GnRH receptor, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was performed using cultured neonatal rat enteric neuron RNA and rat GnRH receptor primers.

The relationship between glucocorticoid effect and regulation of cell surface antigens was investigated in two models of leukemic cell lines, CEM C7 denoted (r+, ly+) and CEM C1 (r+, ly-). The reactivity of murine monoclonal antibodies, anti-CD4-FITC, anti-CD8-FITC, anti-CD2-FITC and anti-calla-FITC, were analyzed using flow cytometry. The suppressor function was determined using [3H]thymidine incorporation into phytohemagglutinin-activated peripheral blood lymphocytes.
