Objectives: To evaluate the effects of inserting a Foley catheter after ureteroscopy (URS) and JJ stent placement on pain scores, voiding patterns, biochemical parameters and postoperative complications.

Patients And Methods: A randomised clinical trial (1:1) with adult patients following unilateral URS + JJ stent placement was planned. In Group A, no Foley catheter was placed, in Group B, a Foley catheter was placed following URS + JJ stent placement.

Article Synopsis
  • The study compared eye measurements (choroidal thickness, retinal capillary networks, and foveal avascular zone) between elite martial arts athletes and healthy sedentary controls aged 18-35.
  • No significant differences were found in key metrics such as age, intraocular pressure, axial length, or visual acuity between the two groups.
  • The findings suggest that the eye structures of martial arts athletes are similar to those of healthy sedentary individuals, indicating that training in martial arts may not lead to significant microvascular changes in the retina and choroid.

Background: Maximum voided volumes (MVV) and maximum bladder capacities (MBC) are important parameters in the evaluation of lower urinary tract functions in children. However, consistency of MVV and MBC measurements between voiding diary (VD), uroflowmetry (UF) and cystometrography (CMG) in children with non-neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (LUTD) has not been addressed specifically.

Objective: We aimed to compare the MVV in VD and UF and MBC in CMG in children with non-neurogenic LUT dysfunction and investigate for possible factors for discrepancies.

Objectives: The present study evaluates the rate of endophthalmitis in intravitreal injections (IVI) performed in a modular injection cabin that could be easily sited in a closet in an office environment, and the performance tests of the cabin in terms of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC).

Methods: The injections were given over approximately 18 months in the cabin and the demographics of the patients were screened retrospectively, and the cabin was subjected to HVAC tests.

Results: A total of 7,238 injections were performed in the defined period, and no cases of endophthalmitis were encountered (0%).
