Γ-Crystallins play a major role in age-related lens transparency. Their destabilization by mutations and physical chemical insults are associated with cataract formation. Therefore, drugs that increase their stability should have anticataract properties.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) in End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) on Maintenance Hemodialysis (HD) portends a poor outcome in patients undergoing dialysis.
Methods: 50 patients with ESRD undergoing regular hemodialysis for at least 3 months were included. Biochemical parameters- hemoglobin, urea, creatinine, albumin, calcium, phosphorus and PTH assessed post dialysis.
In an unusual case of right-sided pericardial defect with herniation of the right atrium and right ventricle, cardiac blood pool isotope imaging is introduced as a new, noninvasive diagnostic procedure. Surgery which consisted of excision of right-sided pericardium relieved the chest pain which was the only symptom the patient had prior to surgery.
