Introduction: This study aimed to determine the correlation between proximal caries and the extent and site of pulp canal obliteration (PCO) in cone-beam computed tomographic (CBCT) scans of mandibular molar teeth.

Methods: A total of 1491 CBCT scans of patients 18-49 years of age were selected from the database (2002-2022). From them, 328 teeth with proximal caries and satisfying inclusion criteria were evaluated by 2 calibrated evaluators.

The Caf1/CNOT7 nuclease is a catalytic component of the Ccr4-Not deadenylase complex, which is a key regulator of post-transcriptional gene regulation. In addition to providing catalytic activity, Caf1/CNOT7 and its paralogue Caf1/CNOT8 also contribute a structural function by mediating interactions between the large, non-catalytic subunit CNOT1, which forms the backbone of the Ccr4-Not complex and the second nuclease subunit Ccr4 (CNOT6/CNOT6L). To facilitate investigations into the role of Caf1/CNOT7 in gene regulation, we aimed to discover and develop non-nucleoside inhibitors of the enzyme.

Background: Hot and humid indoor environment of the kitchen affects worker performance. The Indian Railway's pantry car culinary is one of them that cooks food for the on-board passengers, which could be bothered by the hot indoor climate.

Objective: The current study aimed to identify the indoor working environment of the railway "pantry car" using heat stress indices such as "Universal Thermal Climate Index-UTCI," "Wet-Bulb Globe Temperature-WBGT," "Discomfort Index-DI," "Tropical Summer Index-TSI," "Heat Index-HI," and Heart Rate-HR with clothing insulation.

Trial Design: This is a prospective, block-randomized, blinded, multiple arm and parallel-group superiority clinical trial.

Methods: Seventy-eight patients satisfying the recruitment standards, were randomly allocated into three groups as follows: Group I (n = 26) - Inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) devoid of aromatherapy (AT); Group II (n = 26) - IANB with lavender AT and Group III - IANB with rose AT (n = 26) with the help of the ultrasonic aroma diffuser (with respective oils)for 20 min/2 h in operatories 1,2 and 3 respectively. For AT, 3-4 drops of lavender and rose-conditioned oils were added from a 100 ml solution containing 100 mg of these medicinal plants.

Article Synopsis
  • Nitazenes, a new class of synthetic opioids, have gained attention due to health risks, as little is known about their effects after being discontinued in the 1960s due to abuse potential.
  • A study showed that three nitazenes (butonitazene, isotonitazene, protonitazene) were rapidly metabolized in human liver microsomes and S9 fractions, with over 95% depletion in just 60 minutes.
  • Key liver enzymes involved in their metabolism were identified as CYP2D6, CYP2B6, and CYP2C8, suggesting that individual variations in these enzymes could affect a person's risk of addiction or overdose.
